  • Dirty diesel

Starting our journey to the cape tomorow, im a bit worried about dirty fule. Any tips on where or where not to get it from. I will carry as much as i can but will have to prob fill up somewhere. Do you guys think the 2 filters in the 150 are enough if i get some bad diesel? I have spares with me, the last thing i want is injector problems. Would appreciate any advice thx.

Do u mean the factory 2 Filters? (ie: The one between the Tanks & the one under the bonnet).... If so, I would be definitely installing a Aftermarket Aux 2-Micron Filter under the bonnet for added protection. There are various brands to get but I went for Racor with the water trap as well. U just have to make sure which ever one u go for has the correct flow rate for the diesel.

On price - Barmaga was the dearest when we went up there. Didn't have any issues with fuel quality.
      Greg - 08 D4D Prado,
Some trips done - Cape York, Fraser Island, Simpson Desert / Central Aust, Vic High Country.

We took two Prados with no fuel issues. If you top up more frequently, if there is any bad fuel, at least it will get diluted with the existing fuel.

We bought fuel in Mossman, Weipa and Seisia. Prado should have enough (D4D) for the remainder. If using Laura Maytown track (great drive have done it twice with camper) fill at Laura.

          Rusty.
