  • Lights remain on after ignition turned off (2011 GX)

    Looking for a little advice;

    I've had my 150 Prado GX for 3years. I never turned my lights on or off. I have always left them on and when you open the door after turning the car off they would turn off.

    However; in the last week they have stopped automatically turning off. So now when I turn the car off, get out of the car, close the door, lock the car and walk away the lights will still be on. As a result I now manually turn them on at night (but like driving with them on all the time)

    Another problem i have that I suspect is linked, is that the maybe 1 in every 10 times I get in the car now about 5sec after closing the door, the car will automatically lock all the doors with me inside.

    Any advice would really be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    P.S. Car battery is approx 6months old (which is a good quality battery). Battery in key fob would be about 10-12months.

    Interior lights working when the drivers door is opened ? Sounds like computer is not registering the drivers door opening.

      There's an issue with the door switch. Swap for another one from another door. Or it could be a bad earth contact on the switch body.

        It does sound like front drivers door switch.

        The first problem is the car doesn't know you've got out.
        And with the second problem, the car doesn't know you've got in.

          I think door switch too... My old Camry had similar issue. Sometimes i just touched the rubber seal on the switch and the lights would go off. Or i would open and close the door again.

          The same Camry also had the locking issue... after i unlocked and got in sometimes it proceed lock AND set off the alarm! (little embarrassing in shopping centers)

            Thanks guys. I'm currently interstate, but I'll have a play with the door switch as soon as i get home.

              Did you end up checking into this at all?

              I have the same issue I think, but every other thing related to the door being opened closed etc works accordingly (door chime) except the lights turning off. SO I don't think it can be just the switch?!
