  • Stick with 150 or go 200 series

    Have an option to purchase a good 200 but have a 150 more than happy with. Wil be doing the big trip soon should I keep the 150 and restrict towing up to 2.5 or go the option of 3.5.
    A search around and I have found many people with issues with the 200. .? Any feedback will take onboard

    We're in the same boat at the moment and are looking into the 200 just because of the ease of towing our 2.5t caravan with the 200.

      Fuel economy will be better in the 150, if you're doing a big trip the economy might be something to consider.

        What weight will you be towing?

        200 series advantages are towing capacity, internal size and nice power while 150 has better economy and range (bigger tank).

        Also they recently upgraded the 200 series injectors, similar problems to previous 150. My mates 200 also blew a turbo seal, not sure how common that is.

        Ultimately it's very personnel unless driven by towing capacity.

              if $$$ are not a deciding factor leave the povo pack in the yard and drive a 200

                Many of us would love a 200.
                Toyota have let us down with the 150, it's a large vehicle & underpowered for its size.
                Where's the twin turbo v6?
                Now the problem we have is new technology & euro emission laws.
                The sad news is, if any of us were going to go the 200, we should have grabbed a pre dpf 2015.
                Well I think I should buy one before I write this..... Too late!
                They are having issues with dpf's across the range.
                There's a rumour about bad batches of injectors on the new 200's.
                In fact it's the dpf problems related that are killing the Injectors.
                My 120 is on 270,000km & can't get it to blow a breath of smoke or burn oil, it operates very reliably & smoothly.
                I suggest sticking with the devil we know, which is not so bad at all now we know it very well.
                If you must a 200, go the pre dpf 2015.
                I will be sticking with the 120 long as possible.
                In time things may change.

                  For a big trip I'd go the 200 series for sure, more room & more power.. Having said that I towed a caravan around aust with our Prado 150 without any issues. Also when your not on holidays the Prado is better around town for efficiency & parking..
