Can anyone tell me the depth/distance between the tailgate trim and the inside of the tailgate skin? I am wanting to put a 12 inch sub in the tailgate and I just need to know how much room I have.

Unless you are going to reinforce the door (or build a box in the door), you will have severely compromised output from your sub installed in a rear door. It's not the same as installing mid-basses in doors.

The VX and Kakadu have a subwoofer in the rear passenger quarter panel above the jack. I assume it's just a storage area in the GXL?
