Advice Pls! N00b switched into 4Lo when in Park, then into Drive. - Result - nasty grinding.

Downhill ascent control is noisy as hell, and you don't need it. First gear, low range, is all you need.

DAC uses your ABS and other systems to control the brakes, wheels etc. Great system - it makes sure you decline at a nice rate. Useless system though as it scares everyone in the car! You can be in first, low range, and have the same result but be in complete control, without the annoying grinding noises. I know I'm not the most experienced person to write that DAC is crap, but it's crap. In fact, when I read a review and they mention DAC/similar for a Prado or other any other off-roader, I almost disregard their reviews and keep their input to the cabin space.

Personally, I'd be happier if the money towards DAC went to something like a rear diff locker.

DAC wasn't engaged, but i tell you what, i've had the ABS kick in when pulling up in a little skid on dirt, and christ that's a bit more unpleasant than when i've noticed ABS kick in on other cars. I'll have to test the ABS and the DAC out a bit more so i know better what to expect and so i know they're working properly if they are this unpleasant when they're doing their job. A few weeks ago had mine go off similar to how the DAC goes off but not as aggressive.

Steepish clay hill
foot off the brake
once it started to slip on the hill it sounded like ABS / mild DAC sound for about 2-3 sec then settled it's self down.

But it was a very slippery hill
