  • Advice/Opinions On wheel Size and Tyre

    Hi All

I have a decision to make and I'm not to sure Which way to go as I am reasonably new to 4x4 ownership. I have a 2010 Kakadu on factory 18" wheels and tyres.
The tyres are due for replacement soon .
I have the opportunity to buy a set of brand new 2016 factory 17" GXL wheels and tyres hopefully at a reasonable price (mates rates)

After looking at tyres I noticed there was much more choice in 17" than 18" and also better priced.
I'm happy to use the factory 17" tyres until they are in need of replacement as I don't do any serious off road (yet).

Is it worth initially laying out a little extra for a smaller wheel size to future proof so to speak, or am I better off just sticking with the 18"?
Will these cause any issues fitment or operational wise?
How much should I pay to make this worth it if I go ahead with it?

    Cheers

GXL wheels won't fit with KDSS. A few PPers have 17" wheels on VXs and Kakadus and run 265/70 tyres. FJ Cruiser wheels are a straight fit otherwise aftermarket.

Covered extensively in this section in tyres/wheels. Have a look.

I did read through that thread after I made this one. Not realizing it had been covered but it still wasn't clear to me as these are different year models which could be completely different . Sorry for inconveniencing you.
