150 Update Factory Toyota GPS

G'day,
does anyone have experience regarding the factory Toyota GPS that is offered
My vehicle is a MY14 GXL

Can the additional modules be purchased from Toyota and plugged into the existing system ?

Has anyone done this ?

If so does anyone have the part numbers and / or approximate cost ?

Hi,

I don't think you can buy anything off Toyota but you could try this module. It's plug and play and keeps all the std controls

After a lot of thinking and research I went with a unit form china, http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Quad-...553756262.html

It fits well and reasonably straight forward to fit, as no instructions were provided. It takes all the factory connections and feeds from the reversing camera and usb. Will see how it goes over the next few months as I get to play with it and get used to using the android operating system.






So far I am happy with it and it runs on and off road nav programs, and Torque app for ODB read out, along with many other android apps. Also a lot cheaper then the Toyota option.

Silly question - does it pair with your phone to do bluetooth hands free calls?

I have had it since May this year and so far no issue, it does bluetooth for the phone without any issues.

I have used it on a few longer drives and mapping both Igo and Ozi explorer all work without any issues and now I have fitted constant power, when the accessory power switch is on, so it doesn't need to rebooth for short stops, even though it only takes about 20-30 seconds to restart the screen, the sound and reversing camera come on straight away.

Couldn't get a definitive answer on the upgrade to Toyota screen so my gorgeous partner went out and bought a Hema System with larger SD card and full set of 100k mapping

Hema Navigator HM7

It came from Mapworld and they were the only ones to offer 100k maps
All the ones we saw in store offered 150k maps which we were lead to believe were less detailed.
We will see how it goes and report back

Purchased my VX Oct. 2016 and map programme was dated June 2015. Now 2018 and toyota still don't have an update available. If this continues I will purchase dash mounted unit, believe Toyota updates cost approx. #300- when available.
