  • Fitting Rear Wheel Carrier - Swap Rear Door Panel

    Hi All

I am getting a rear bar with a twin wheel carrier next week and was wondering where i could buy a panel" that i can replace the rear door panel where the spare wheel no longer sits? Was hoping to get a nice finish like the new prados with no spare wheel on the back door...

    Thanks in advance
    Alex!

That would require a complete new rear door for an altitude, doubt you would be able to use much from the original door.

    Big $$$ to do that

It's not that simple. The Altitude in the picture was a limited run model with the split horizontal tailgate and the spare tyre in place of the extra fuel tank. Every other model has the single side-hinged door with spare tyre. It would be easier to buy a used Altitude and fit the wheel carrier to that.

Surely the hole is the same. Find a wrecked Altitude or just steal a back door if you find one open.

Completely different doors. One has fixed glass the other opening glass. Ne'er the twin shall meet.

You can swap over the entire door, behind the rear glass opening is the door frame itself and its the same barn door as the 'normal' prado...

MY brother replaced a rear door a few moths ago.
                    Prado had been rear ended.
Just the door was Around $1700 his cost.
Add paint and the other bits and pieces you will need.

not much change out of 5K may no change
