Bluetooth audio tinny and poor quality in 2014/2015 150

Hi all,

Just picked up my new (to me) 2015 compiled 150 gxl and to my disappointment, the audio streaming from bluetooth is very poor quality. Radio and disc sound great.

Is this a common issue? Anything I can do about it? Or do I just need to revert to the auxiliary cable / usb thumb drive?

That's odd. I have a 2014 VX and use my Bluetooth audio a bit to listen to Apple music. Mine seems like pretty good quality.

I have had iPhone 4s, 5s and now 6s PLus and all stream fine, but I have a cradle connected via USB so tend to listen via that as the quality is even better.

After all my moaning about the navigation you may be surprised to hear that the BT streaming in my 2015 GXL is good. I have only ever tried android phones though, a galaxy 3 does not give the option of picking tracks from the screen but galaxy 4 and later phones do. I think this is because of the android version rather than the head unit. Both sound fine.

BT in my 2015 is good.

If you can prove that it's terrible in toyota shop, they may be liable to replace it. A demo model should be available to act as a comparison I'd imagine.

If you replicate the poor quality, it may be your phone's bluetooth chipset... if it's the same with a dealership worker's phone, then it will likely be the car.

Yep - June 2016 build and the audio quality is fine on an iPhone6 and 5 models. If it's that bad, I'd take it back for a warranty fix
