I'm installing a cb in my 150 series GLX. The plan is to instal it in the side of the console so I thought the best option for accessing ACC power is from one of the cigarette lighters. There's one in the centre and one at the rear of the console. How do I get to wiring? Oris there a better option?

Hi sotty cat, I had my GME 3550s professionally installed by Electric Bug. Cost $120 and was really worth it. Check other threads here. Mine is installed under the radio in the centre. Could believe the installer how he pulled all the fascia off in about a minute. Lot s of room there to fit unit. I took power direct from auxiliary based on advice from PP members. Constant power, less interference. As for power, if you don't want to go the way of taking from the auxiliary battery, consider a fuse tap from the fuse box under the steering wheel on the rhs. Use an unused space and tap straight in. I buy all my electrical accessories from Lightforce at Hindmarsh. 3 fuse taps for $7. Always recommend Lightforce if you live in Adelaide, best quality and great suppport/service if anything goes wrong. I'm, just about to buy their double USB charger, $28, little dear than some of the eBay sellers but always better quality.2012 Crystal Pearl Prado Altitude 150 Diesel Auto. Toyota mats and rear rubber mat. Toyo Open Country AT2's 265 65 R17 LT. OEM nudge bar. dual battery set up with Optima D34, rear power points front and rear Anderson plugs. Lightforce LED combi light bar. Kingsley side steps. Outback Ideas recovery points. Dr Air Pro 150 ltr air compressor. ARB 60 ltr fridge. GME 3550s UHF radio. Hema HX1.

Mine is attached to the panel under the glovebox, power is wired directly to the main battery via the grommet on the firewall. I do plan to re-wire it to the aux battery, just haven't gotten round to it yet. Be aware that if you wire to the cigarette lighter power it will only be on when the accessory switch is on, you also run the risk of RF interference affecting your signal.
This is mine :- http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post467154
And this is how you get the plastics for the console off (pre-facelift but should give an idea) :- http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...ghlight=brains
Plenty of threads on here about CB installation, just do a Google search with "siteradopoint.com" tacked to the end of your search criteria.

This quote taken from any GME user manual
"The inherent design of FM transceivers result in a high level of
resistance to ignition and electrical interference. However in
some installations it may be necessary to take additional steps to
help reduce or eliminate noise interference. During installation,
try to route the DC battery leads, the antenna lead or any
accessory wires away from the engine compartment, ignition or
alternator wiring. If the noise continues, it may be necessary to
fit a suppression kit in which case we recommend you consult an
auto electrician for advice specific to your installation.
Higher frequency electrical interference caused by electric motors
can be suppressed directly at the motor terminals."
