2012 Prado exhaust rust

Hi all,

We just purchased our first Prado, a Petrol 2012 VX. Overall we love the car.

I have noticed the exhaust system has alot of surface rust, I have also found a couple of small (1 cam) spots of surface rust on the chassis.

I am wondering if other user would consider this normal for a car this age? Should I be concerned?

It's quite normal but post a few pictures for us internet mechanics to assess.

Surface rust is pretty common and not much that you can do about it. Chassis rust is very normal and generally not a big deal. Body rust, particularly around the back door seal is a big problem and not easy to deal with.

Cheers krypto, good to hear, I found an old post with underbody pics and it has given me some comfort, guess get a bit bit nervous when you spend up on used car. I am getting my mechanic mate who works for Toyota to give her a good going over next week so I can relax. Thanks for coming back to me.... this site is the best!

Just to update, mechanic looked it over for me and said its all good. Time to see what that v6 motor can do!
