USB Streaming for 150 series GXL

G'day All,

Picked up my new GXL late last week after trading my 2012 Altitude. Quite happy with the GXL but miss a couple of features of the Altitude. Unfortunately the 150L capacity was the sticking point and the reason for the step down/sideways in spec level.

Anyway, I cannot get my AV to read my USB stick of various format (mp3, wav) audio. The USB button is greyed out. How can I get my music back because I cannot stand the yapping morons on commercial radio and streaming doesn't work so good out in the bush away from phone towers?

I had a similar issue with my 2016 GX and an iPod. I can't remember the exact solution but it was to do with the naming of the iPod. Essentially it was reading everything on it as 1 file name which took forever [ ie. never] to load. I recall that a ch nge in name to something simple solved it. Try pressing aux twice.

It can sometimes take a while to read/index the USB. I have have some problems with WMA files, but not MP3

All music files are in folders. I've confirmed the usb stick is ok but now suspect the Prado cannot handle a 32gb stick. Everything works with a 8gb stick although it's quite bulky compared to the 8mm long 32gb sticks I have used in my Prado Altitude.

File structure is FAT32
Files are a mix of mp3 and wma.
All works fine when I copy the files to a 8gb stick.
Looks like the problem is related to the stick capacity (32gb). I've tried two different 32gb sticks, both with the same fault.

Nice small form factor. FAT 32 format mp3 no issues. Have not tried WMA. Try to stay away from anything 'windows'.

No hub, just straight in. Cheesed off that my dealer knows nothing about the av system and cannot offer any suggestions.

I think I use the small 64GB Samsung also - seems OK. I think that lossless WMAs may be problematic due to the high bit rate. But maximum quality MP3's seem OK.

Well GXL hasn't got the best speaker system anyway. I think the 3rd row has got noting at all, (could be wrong here), they rely on the 2nd seat speakers.

Back to the USB, if the system reads a certain USB then I do not think the size should be an issue. Have you tried to format the USB using the same port on the PC? You might be surprised but some USB's formatted on a USB 3.0 ports behave differently. Just try to see if it makes any difference. Try to format with a USB 2.0 port. I am guessing the 8 GB is USB 2.0 and 32 GB is USB 3.0 Your case is not making much logic though!
