I have a kind of rusting wind noise coming from the top rear corner of the door - right near my head and right ear... It seems to be the door seal has flattened a bit and now when the body flexes the door moves just enough that I can hear the door seal rubbing slightly, making a very annoying rustling sound. Has anyone else had this? Did a new door seal rubber fix this?

I'm not sure if its the same sound, or same issue, however I also had an annoying sound in my ear. I could start hearing it around 70-80 km/h and got a little louder the faster I went. I was certain it was the door seal at first however for me it was the door's weather-shield in the end.
There's small vertical section at the rear of the shield that has a piece of double sided tape holding it to the door's paintwork. The tape had split in to two pieces and I could lift the plastic shield from the paint work slightly. I put some clear packing tape on the shield to stick it down properly to the paintwork and it instantly fixed the issue - I was doing this on the side of the highway. This was a few weeks ago and the tape is still holding well. I just need to pull my finger out and get a small length of thin black double sided tape to fix it properly. My passenger door's shield at the rear has also started to come away.
That's assuming you have weather-shields
Hope that helps.
