  • Extended factory roof rails

I have been looking at a roof platform flat rack for the car

The platform is 2100mm long and I think I would like to fit 3 cross bars under it

I have 2 Rhino Aero bars already

To do that , I reckon I would need to lengthen the fixed, longitudinal roof rails

Without doing that, the distance between rails would be about 1000mm with a 550mm overhang at each end

Is there an extension kit available to lengthen the roof rails ?

    Thanks

    Pete

For the 2100mm long platform, you need to remove the rails and fit it directly to the roof.

I recon you are better off without the factory rails and fitting a platform using platform feet, that way the platform is closer to the roof, you have more clearance, less wind resistance and its better all round.

          Hi Pete,

I have just gone through this last Thursday. Removed the factory rails off my 120 series as there is a 20kg gain by going direct to the roof / support pillars as well as it sitting alot lower for multi-story car parks, home roller doors etc.

Happy with the 2128 length over the 1928 and it is recommended for the 150, 100 & 200 series also for upgrades.

          Good luck!
