I was wondering whether anyone else has had the same problem as me with their Prado not starting properly.
I have a 150 series diesel/auto.
Recently, I noticed that every now and again when I started the vehicle it sounded as if the starter motor stayed on for just a second or so after the car actually started (like the old days when you would turn the key after the car had already started).
About a week ago, I went to start the Prado and it turned over and stalled. When I tried to restart the vehicle the starter turned the motor over (strongly) but the Prado would not start. So I had to press the start/button to stop it turning the motor over. I left it for a few seconds, and then pushed the start button and after a bit of coughing and spluttering the engine started. But after it started the VSC light stayed on, the 4LO light blinked continuously, and the yellow engine light stayed on.
After a bit of research online (as it was a Sunday) it appeared as if those three lights together were a generic warning. The car started no problem after and ran fine.
The following day, the warning lights reset and turned themselves off.
Everything seemed fine, but it has happened again, and the warning lights are back on again.
Any ideas on what might be causing this?
Cheers
