If you don’t disable it they will. That actually makes sense to me, we have a similar policy in regards phone calls being recorded at my work.
Wow. Firstly, it's not OH&S anymore, it's WH&S and has been since 2011. And it's not against any WH&S law. What it is, potentially, is illegal against the Listening Devices Act. That's why most, on start up, state "Voice Recording... On" - it's less to let you know, more about letting the passengers know (although I have disabled this).

With regards to your phone calls being recorded - that's the Telecommunications Act/ Telecommunication Interception Act which is why you will always here "This call may be recorded for..." and then a reason. If they give no reason, then that's fine too, actually. But you must be made aware of it.

I've got no drama's in having a service centre telling you it'll be switched off - good on them, at least they're being up-front. But just come out and say it's your policy - don't try and hide behind some legal-gumpf!

WOW - I was parraphrasing what was on the notice so it was probably me that got OHS wrong. My dealership actually videos the workshop and your welcome to look at your car service any time you like. I was just replying to someone who asked why they would disable a dash cam,Why is everyone so angry on dealerships?

Sorry - wasn't meant to be against a dealership, my local one's awesome (backed up by something slightly less, however).

It wasn't a comment against the specific dealership, but against bush-lawyers that try and use peoples lack of knowledge of the law to their advantage. I've been dealing with Toyota over this issue for around 6 weeks now - unfortunately for them they have had to admit their initial comments were incorrect but it was only after I pointed out that little thing about legislation to them.

Like I said, "'I've got no drama's in having a service centre telling you it'll be switched off - good on them, at least they're being up-front". Now you say they offer a video - well that's over and above and I would certainly stick with a mob that backs them like that.

As soon as she asked me if I'd be interested in purchasing any of these I swiftly replied, "I'm not interested in any extras, thanks." Well no sooner did this narky little thing cut me off before I finished my sentence and proceeded through her 5 minute speal of up selling her extras without even taking a breath so that I could jump in and reiterate that I wasn't interested. I basically had to sit in front of her against my will until she had finished her arrogant pitch. It was funny though because as soon as she finished and asked me if I'd be interested, I again repeated word for word, "I'm not interested in any extras, thanks." Man did she give me a dirty look for a split second before palming me off back to the salesman and then being palmed off by him a short while later to the dealership principal who had a compressed crack at upselling me the extras again. I was a young guy and they obviously assumed I was an easy target for giving them all the money I had if they just asked. I hate the vampires at many dealerships. Looking through a car yard zaps my energy even before I walk in to have a look when they're manned by those blood suckers.

And they continue to steal from you for years after with their servicing guidelines to uphold the warranty. The warranty that they try to avoid honouring if something goes wrong anyway.

Almost exactly the same experience. Although I laughed when they tried to up sell the window tint, which just pissed off the accessories chick that she walked away without another word.

Just a quick update on my saga. I take the Prado in for it's 5th capped service tomorrow, this is earlier than deemed necessary by Toyota's rules but I will be in the UK for around 7 months and the vehicle will be stood up again as soon as it returns from its capped service.
As the time will soon be approaching when the warranty expires and I can at last service it myself I decided it was about time that I read the user manual to see what is scheduled.
Tomorrow's service is the 50,000 Km even though it has covered less than 30,000. This requires only the engine oil and filter changing, which is fine as the oil is starting to look black and it has done getting on for 10,000 Km since the last change.
Whether the "capped" service price of $220 is good value for just an oil and filter change is another matter. What made me feel worse about this whole sorry episode was that when I looked at what is needed for the coming services, I tried to find the interval for a gearbox oil change. Remember my Prado is manual, but I could find no reference to the gearbox oil ever needing to be changed???
If this is the case perhaps Toyota could use a similar oil in the engine which of course they claim deteriorates even when freshly put in without the car being used.

Service completed today, the paperwork has written on it in bold lettering:
Next service due: 07/12/2018 or odometer reading 60,000 Km whichever comes first.
So this is confirming that I could drive 30,000Kms without needing an oil change yet I must not go later that 7th December despite the car being unused and covering zero Kms in that time.
              How crazy is that?

Crazy for your situation yes and mine to a much lesser extent. (50k service done in low 40's) but alas generic scheduling for the masses is easier for car makers.

This positively John - when it comes time to sell you'll be able to ask more for your rig as its probably the most over-services unit on the market!!
                Cheers

I'd hazard a guess the requirement for a 60,000km service was a typo - they just put it down as that because that's the next interval due. On all my cars they've always just added the interval (in this case 10,000km) to the odo reading. Check the sticker in your top right corner of your windscreen - does that say 60,000km also?

Yes it does, the one before this said 50,000 now this one is clearly marked 60,000 Kms. Does this prove just how stupid Toyota's rules are?
                    And yes

120D4D I should think on the bright side and not keep moaning, but oddly enough I get a sort of perverted pleasure from posting my complaints. What makes me mad is that you cannot knock or change the system, nobody uses common sense, there are rules laid out which have to be followed no matter how daft.
