Hi all
finally got the prado on the road (150 3l diesel auto) after a short engine rebuild (I bought the car not running). I have noticed a sound which occurs under load/acceleration from 1500rpm to 2000 rpm and under no load at 2900rpm (in park revving) which is best described as sounding like something between a domestic vacuum or the sound you can make by blowing air across the opening of an empty beer bottle (if that makes sense)
So I suspect it is turbo related, I don't know if it is normal (am really time poor and obviously going to a dealer and driving a used one would be one way of checking!) but wanted to hear from others if this sounds normal or not.
The car goes really well and is not blowing any smoke - its not the high pitched sound that you get from a turbo - its a more throaty induction sound - as the engine has been out recently I have checked all the hoses from turbo to intercooler and airbox and they all look ok in terms of fitment and condition
any ideas guys?
