It’s been short lived. My reverse camera only works once the. Next time I put it in reverse I get a black screen.

I used a couple of small screw drivers and gently prised the clips open while applying force from the front. Felt like i was going to break them but they will pop. I posted a picture of the canbus unit supplied with my unit, is yours (rackxp) the same unit? Also, I posted a picture of my reverse camera connection. Worked first time and still ok now. I have September 2015 GXL 2.8 if that helps.

My air vents are held in by 7 spring clips, 4 at the bottom and 3 at the top. I inserted a bit of stiff wire in each one to hold them open. The middle top clip is the slightly tricky one as you can't easily see it and it goes across to release not up or down like all the others.
Sorry to hear about the camera issue, it does seem odd if it worked once. I was concerned about mine before I tried it as I had read that factory cameras use a different voltage to after-market ones. Something like 12 and 5 but I cant remember which way around, have you checked what voltage your original and new head units are putting out? This of course may be nothing to do with the problem but worth checking or someone reading this may post if there is a difference.

Racksp, can you go into settings, About and tell me the build number and model number (MCU Version) you have? It will start with MTC ***********. If you get no joy in getting your cash back, there are alternative firmware's (Malaysk)you can install to these units. It is important to get the model number right otherwise you may end up with a brick. For example, here are the instructions for a MTCD PX5 unit: https://forum.xda-developers.com/and...evice-t3598908

Please keep posting your progress with this one.
@paddyb thanks for the link that has almost 2600 posts! Just out of interest my unit is build no px-5 user debug 6.0.1 and MCU version MTCD_HA_V2.61_1
1024X600 so should be an ideal candidate to try this firmware. That is if I don't die before I have read all 2600 posts about it!
Will you try it, and what do you think are the advantages over the standard firmware?

My option would be to spice an RCA connector into the harness prior to the parking assist ECU for the camera which would overcome this issue. But I Really don't want to splice into the main wiring loom. I've emailed the manufacture of the head unit (hot audio for some advice but they are also the selling of the unit from Ali Express) Who haven't been helpful.
I really wanted an all in one unit for Hema Maps.

I am away at the moment but when I get back for Christmas I will backup the installed rom and install Malaysk's. It looks a lot smoother and has more user control. If it all goes pear shaped I can revert to the original. Video of latest rom features here for the PX5 MTCD system: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUvi-TstdaA
