I went the extra $10k up to the VX, the Kakado is another $20K on what I have paid, so it is not an option, that is a swimming pool in the back yard, or a new 10x9m shed for me.
Yeah, I know. The D4D Kakadu I had a look at Morley in Perth was $100k drive away!
The D4D GXL's were $74k drive away.....
'07 D4D VX Prado. Toyota bull bar & towbar. IPF 900XS spotlights. D694LT's
Why such a long wait? When I went to Peter Kittle Toyota, they had like 6 of each VX and Kakadu on the front lot. No GX or GXLs. Still had a 120 D4D VX in black, last one standing.

They do have a Silver Pearl VX coming in late december, but I cant see the point in buying a 2009 car in december when I can wait 2 months and have a feb 2010 comply and build.
I am in no rush as it will also give me a chance to sell the falcon for more than the trade and save a few more pennies. plus the wait will be like waiting for a new bride, like getting hit by the ice cream truck first night.

F.....................or goodness sakes!
I 'm glad I got the car I have when I did then. I picked up a demo Grande in May 2009, with 4K on the clock for $73k drive away. I love it and I'm happy but not sure that I would have even considered it at $100K. At that price I may have considered different options.
2008-12 D4D 5-Spd Auto Grande, Silver Ash, Full Window Tint, H-R Towbar, Cargo Barrier, Rhino-Racks, Rola Vortex Tray, GME TX3340, ARB Deluxe Winch Bar, IPF900XS Spotlights, BFG 275/65R17
Hi all,
I would be really interested to hear what all you guys have been paying for your VX's. I saw someone said they paid something like $74k drive away. I have started looking around recently to trade in my NS Pajero and I had a good look at the Prado VX and was told it would be about $85k drive away which really put me off. Are you guys doing anything speacial to get it for $74k???
(don't tell anyone from the Pajero forum I am here! )

Hi Walker,
I got mine , well I dont have it, but will early feb, for $73,800. on road, inc all taxes etc, that was with buisiness rego (dearer) and a set of mats (thrown in, I nearly pissed myself when told the mats were "thrown in", on a $74,000 car and get a $100 set of mats), that also had a trade too of my 2006 falcon sedan, which I was offered the top trade, bottom private sale price, but I get to keep trade until new one arrives and price stays the same, so I was pretty happy.
Hi All
(Type R) is in WA, not sure about Eugene. In the West our on road costs and stamp duty are usually higher than the east coast. The VX price was very good.
I also managed a great deal from a car broker, Mark Griffin Ph 0439 279 661 who sourced a GXL diesel at an on road cost from a Perth metro dealer
which was also excellent and miles below what one WA country dealer was offering and also what Type (R) has indicated.
Also managed a couple of goodies including mats. Good luck!
Eugene, what state are you in. I wonder if the state you buy in makes a difference.
I am in NSW, the Pillage state,
break down as follows, numbers rounded to save my brain.
VX, turbo diesel, auto, $64786
paint, silver pearl $ 363
Mats, free
Allowance - $ 5613
Delivery $ 1540
Sub total $61076
GST $ 6107
LCT $ 3001
Sub total $70185
Stamp Duty $2610
Rego $ 638
CTP $366
Grand total $73800.
Taxes, stamp duty rego abd CTP total $12,725. or over 20% of purchase cost, add this to the fact I have allready paid 34-40% tax on the money I am paying for the car with makes me think I am getting shafted by state and federal Gov and they are going in dry, not even a kiss, the only reason I have decided on new is I will get the 50% investment allowance on Prado this year, so a bit of a help.
The above prices came from Maitland toyota, I dealt with Belinda Bailey, Assistant Manager, and very good to deal with, Zero pressure, three test drives, nothing was a problem.
That really is a great price, I will have to see what I can do here in Melbourne.
I am still trying to decide on whether to get a VX or the LX. I really like the 3 door and having only 1 kid and an offroad caravan, we really dont need the 7 seats or the extra room in the back. The LX saves a bit of money and give you a few extra goodies. I am just not sure how the resale will go on the SWB although I have noted that the SWB seem to hold better resale with the Pajero than the LWB.

Now who should I tell first......
December 2007 Prado GXL diesel, Option Pack with traction control, rear airconditioning and curtain airbags. Lovells Springs and Bilstiens shocks, snorkel, front recovery points,
ARB Bar with fog lights, ARB second battery system, sandgrabber mats, Pirelli ATR Tyres,
I thought that a car broker would be a great starting point, although it has come to light that a group purchase can yield an even better negotiated price. ops:

and it has 3000kg (braked) towing capacity. The five door is only rated to 2500kg.
and welcome to PP...Toyota is better than pajero anyway...
Some interesting comments but consider these simple matters when comparing the two models. Below are the VX specs above GXL
- Electronic KDSS suspension
- Leather seats + door trims
- Electric fold third row seat
- 9 speaker + CD changer audio system
- Front parking sensors
- Rain sensing intermittent wipers
- Adaptive Front headlamp System (AFS
- Electric Tilt & Telescopic steering column
- Electro Chromatic interior mirror
- Illuminated entry system
For me all that makes a difference along with a better residual if that aspect is of any interest. For me VX is the pick of the bunch and owning a current model I think I can speak from some experience. I suggest you look more closely at the differences between GX and VX. If you want a workhorse then GX but your stated needs fit a VX
Enjoy the confusion
