got my luggage hooks from pelican the other day and they work a treat, look very neat and seem to be strong enough for most applications. the complimentary jelly beans were yum too.
any ways here is some pics of them.

Nice work, thanks for the pics. My hooks arrived last week but now I just need a car to put them in We pick up the new car in a week or two.

To amts and others, before 150 series Prado came out in 2009 there was an over seas brochure on line (www) of accessories for this car that showed a cargo net that fitted the channels. I have not been able to see this brochure since and Toyota Australia know nothing about it.
It is a serious serious over sight on the behalf of Toyota not to have released a tie down accessory for these channels. I have bought a tie down bracket from ARB and rivoted the aluminium base plate to the channel and thru its steel inner bracket. The tie down can be removed from the base plate. Not awfully strong but better than nothing. The Rhino bits and pieces don't work - I've tried!

Supercheap auto sell an elasticised cargo net which hooks onto the luggage/lashing eyes and it works quite well. You can buy an expensive one from BMW too.

Gents,

I went to pick up a little CRF50 from Honda today in my 2011 VX and didnt even think about tie down points. Pulled the rubber mat back expecting to see a few tie down points and was severly disappointed. (just used to the older 120 series)!!!!!

However after morphing into Macgiuver - I was able to strap it in using tie down straps thru the loop in the 3rd row seatbelts where they bolt to the floor - not a good option but enough to get it home.

and here I am - back on PP trying to research yet another Toyota Aust. short coming

Well, I love the Aussie Dollar at the moment so I just took the plunge and ordered 4, total $167.50 delivered (US) so happy with that. Still not that happy that I have to buy a set for a car that should come standard with them, but hey that is a different story. Thanks all for the heads up, I can now finish my Drifta Draws install project.

Sounds like a plan mate, once they are in and our house mods are complete we will be keen for a run. I need to get our new little member to our family on her first 4wd trip ASAP. February should be all smooth sailing (January is buggered) so I will let you know.

To change the thread a bit, does anyone know what the load rating of the tie down points in the GXL are? To me they look like they will snap if I strap a heavy trunk down to them and then bounce the car around off road. Has anyone had any experience with the loads these points can take?

I purchased the parts from Pelican Parts and they fit great. I showed the local dealer principal and he was very pleased to see a solution to the problem. BMW Tie Down Points with

First trip using the pelican parts BMW tie down hooks. What a treat with ARB quick straps. See my photos below of my ARB compressor and tyre repair kit in tub and recovery gear in next to the tub. I purchased 6 tie down points and the combinations in the track are great. I also purchased a rear rubber mat and carefully cut out the tracks for the tie down points. Careful if you cut the Toyota mat, the Toyota total shapes for the tracks, to be used to know where to cut out the track shapes appear too wide and are not the exact size of the tracks. I didn't want to see any carpet.

I got a bit excited guys thinking that this might be fixed by now as a supplied item on all new VX & Kakadu as the 1st post was way back in 2010 I think. Credit to those of you who came up with workable options.
