  • What would you ask Toyota to change for 2011 release of 150?

I thought I would start a thread of items you would ask Toyota to change for the 2011 or 2012 release of the 150.

I am holding onto my 120 for a while becaase of a few things I am not happy with, and generally to see what chnages might be made after its first year, both by Toyota or aftermarket.

So to kick it off, here is my list:

Factory towbar that does not sit so low
Factory Bullbar (I know its meant to be coming end February but you would think they would have a picture by now if it is less than a month away from release)
Better location for ipod connector - why not the glove box? Out in the open means always having to disconnect and hide your ipod when parking in some places
Ability to upgrade, factory or aftermarket, to an in-dash sat nav on the GXL and VX models
Back to 120 fuel tank size!
A factory cargo barrier that doesn't have those huge opening either size (the Milford has better coverage but as one thread on Prado Point pointed out the Milford fitting isn't too flash). My Autosafe on in 120 Grande fits well and provides full coverage without impacting airbags.
    Fix the pig ugly dash

But I'd like to hear from actual owners of the 150.
2005 Grande v6, dark grey, ARB Sahara Bar, IPF, Bridgestone ATs, Hayman Reese, Rhino Rack, Autosafe cargo barrier, VAI IPOD, Thumper, 60L Engel

Why not just go with a real steel bar instead of alloy that looks horrible in the promo shots? Even some of the aftermarket ones for the 150 look ridiculous.

Aftermarket is something completely seperate to Toyota and will happen without any dramas. Perhaps Toyo have looked at peoples keen interest to upgrade the headunit and so have come out with very limited options here since the majority of people tend to upgrade to aftermarket rather than expensive factory options.

The dash actually grows on you quite quickly once you spend some time in the vehicle, it could do with a better clock though, a bit hard to find while driving and too much glare.

Some PP'ers would probably like the GXL with optional 3rd row seats.
Factory rear diff lock to be optional on all models below Kakadu.
I'd like the 8 seats back.
Both halves of the 2nd row to completely slide forward so passengers in the 3rd row can also enter/exit on the right hand side.
Have 265/70R17 as an ADR approved size so we dont' get defected or get the tyres engineered.

switches around the console and steering wheel need some organisation and order.

                Hi Folks

I have now got an aftermarket towbar, much better than the Toyota and $300.00 less, 3m Black tint that doesn't effect the in glass aerials. I would like to see somewhere to put a UHF, a 12 volt outlet on the dash not on the console, the option on the GXL and above for no rear seats and a lower rear floor. Also Toyota to make vehicles available to the major aftermarket manufacturers so they have accesories ready for the release.

Oh yea and maybe somebody from Toyota to shortcut the 600 page manual!!

                Regards, Richo

The rip off pricing or add some decent inclusions to justify it!

Availability of cargo deck hooks for the VX and Kakadu slots in the rear deck which aren't available in Australia, but only in Europe ... what a joke! But hey at least the Toyota Australia accessories team is looking into it after I raised it as a safety issue. If they aren't going to "give" us the deck hooks, then give us standard tie downs.

I'm also amazed at the lovely velour covered sun visors in a 4WD .... how grubby are they going to get after some dirty outback trips?

                      1) Replace the ridiculous flaps going from the cargo cover to the back seat in the GXL.
                      2) Put a 12V Outlet on the dash, not in the console.
                      3) Don`t automatically revert to air-con recycle function.
                      4) Be able to name the phone numbers in the bluetooth address book.
                      5) Enable stall stops/starts for offroad hillclimbs (Manual).

For the GXL, make the third row seats an option so one can get a five-seater vehicle (preferably with a 180 litre fuel tank). There must be many buyers who will never require to carry more than five people.

I collected my new Silver GXL yesterday... very nice. I did notice the air-con switching to recirc each time the car was started. Whilst scanning the manual, I found that this is 'customisable' by Toyota. Somewhere around P:610 from memory, so next time your are in for a service, you should be able to request them to change it...

New diesel auto Prado, first Prado upgraded from a Mitsubishi Challenger.
I would like to see a flat driver side mirror, not the convex one that is fitted and the rear wiper misses a lot of the rear window.
