Just purchased a new GXL petrol automatic.
Always had a manual petrol, still have the 80 series Cruiser which I want to sell. Still goes well, however, the wife prefers the auto because of her dodgy knee, and I will buy a van at a later time so the auto will make for easier towing.
Spent time and money adding a few things to the Cruiser, so will have to start again.
Maybe someone can answer a few questions. The Prado was advertised in the brochure as having an alarm, but the salesman told me it did not. Windsor Toyota advised me they can fit an alarm and incorporate it with the entry button. Repeller brand at either around $700-, or $900- for the top of the range. Are there any better/worse brands and of course cheaper prices.
A supply and fit of a Toyota tow bar, including wiring and and Anderson plug for a van was quoted at $1,235-. The van will be an off road model, so is the tow ball a bit low for the van?
Does anyone know what the maximum recommended down pressure is for the tow ball? Cannot find it in the manual (635 pages is too much to read and absorb) and an enquiry with the spare parts man at Windsor could not tell me.
I asked about the 220volt plug in the rear, and he told me it would run a laptop, and may be even a toaster. I don't think it will run anything like a toaster, he was a young bloke, and I don't think he knew too much really.
With regards to adding a second battery setup, any recommended brands. As usual, Toyota has fixed something to the second battery slot, this time the steering fluid bottle. Has anyone moved it, and is it easy to do? With the cruiser I had to move 3 items along the side to free up the tray.
How does the Accessory position work, such as the radio playing with the engine stopped?
Toyota also stated a UHF radio might interfere with the electronics. Any one had a problem?
In one of the posts, I cannot remember who, there was a problem with an Autofridge interfering with the radio. Has that problem been rectified?
Apologies for all the questions, would appreciate any answers.
