  • seat belt warnng buzzer

Hi, I am one of the first owners in the uk of the 150,and love it. However is there a way to stop the seat belt warning buzzer? I also have a hilux, and newhilux.net sorted out the same problem by using the odo button and seat belt in a specific order. Does anyone know if it can be done on the new prado.

    Hi TonyS,

The seatbelt reminder buzzers can be disabled by your dealer with their computer. I had mine done when I picked it up. I also got them to enable the setting where you push and hold the unlock button on your keyfob to make the windows and moonroof open up (to let the hot air out before you get in). Both changes took a total of 5 minutes.

    Cheers,
    Mazza

        Hey Mazza,

Did you have too ask and push for them to do it, or did they do it with no hassles and complaints. Just wondering if I need to be ready for a fight when I ask.

            Hi Ryzz,

They did it with no questions at all. I was just about to drive off into the brave new world and said, "By the way, would you mind....". They said "No probs. Just drive it round to Service and we'll get them to look after it", which they did.

            Cheers,

Already having arguments with the dealer. They are claimng they are not allowed to disable it. I've spoken to the new car sales mgr and he is going to look at it.

                  Ryzz,

That's ridiculous! Show them the Owner's Manual, where it clearly states that the dealer can change it for you (there's a table towards the end of the manual with all the various settings that can be altered). Also, the warning lights still function after the change, it's just the beeping that stops.

                  Cheers,

                    Hey Mazza

I actually rang up and gave the new car sales mgr a gob full over it (my wife dropped the car off), and he tried to tell me it was illegal, until I told him it was listed in the manual as a dealer changeable option. He reckons they were going to speak to the RTA about the legality of it, etc. I also told him I would be coming in for warranty claims on unusual wear on my front seats from having to feed the seat belt behind them to stop them buzzing when driving off road!!

It was eventually disabled when my wife picked it up, it amazed me how difficult something simple can be. It has confirmed with me that I will not be dealing with Clintons Campbelltown anymore (I live on the Northern Beaches anyway, but this reaffirmed it).

OK, that's spooky - I got mine from Clintons Campbelltown as well, and as discussed, they changed it on the spot, no questions asked! :? Either I got lucky with my sales rep, or they've been taken to task in the meantime about the legality of doing it. Anyway, at least you got it done.

                          Re: seat belt warnng buzzer

I recently had the 1 month service on my 150 - and asked for the buzzer to be turned off - dealer gave same old crap about illegal etc. until I mentioned that I had read about the same arguments on here - and that nearby dealers were doing it (bulls**t) - but he immediately gave in. I think its just they can;t be bothered.

Unfortunately you can't do it the old way with the ODO.

Without that off opening and closing gates on the farm would be a real pain in the arse. Also RTA rules are you don;t need a seatbelt under 25km - yet the Prado still turns it on.

Now I just need to know how to turn the door ajar alarm off - Toyota don;t know how to do it either.

                            Hi,
Still waiting for my dealer to call me back to book it in. He hadnt heard of it here in the UK, but will chase him again. Really annoying me now driving around the farm.

Good to see you you guys are having some success in getting things altered, I'm hoping for same in a weeks time.

Does anyone out there know what can and can't be done, as the beeping, buzzing and nagging this thing does is worse than my mother asking me to
cleanup my floordrobe when I was a kid !

The main culprits seem to be:

                              Seat Belt undone
                              Door Ajar
Walking Away from vehicle when it is going with key (if you have to go back and lock your house door etc)

Any other suggestions out there ?

                              Cheers
