  • Electric Windows/Electrical Gremlins

I'n not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but i have discovered a very strange "fault" with the windows. I was getting in the car the other day started it and went to put the drivers side window down. At the same time some friends were getting into the back seat and while my window was still going down, they shut the back door and with this my window stopped about half way down. I found this very strange. We got back home later that day and i tried to do the same thing but with the drivers door opening and closing. Sure enough, putting the window down and closing the door at the same time seems to confuse the car. Window goes down a bit, door closes and then window stops. Wondering if anyone else has had this happen of come across any other special electrical problems? Apart from that love the car when i get to "borrow" if from the wife.
    Cheers Guys

i cant' say this happens on mine.

i often open the door, press the button to lower the window, get int he car and pull the door behind me while it is still going down. seems to go down fine. strange that putting the back window down would stop the drivers window. good luck finding how to fix this one.

it is quite stupid really - didn't explain properly though. It must be a short in the wiring because it only happens when the drivers door is closed or for some reason the back passenger door. And now i discover that it stops on the way up and down. but only when the door is closed. May have to see mr toyota about this one.

There is nothing wrong with the car at all - its a safety feature. The idea is that if you have turned the engine off, the windows can work only until someone opens a door.

This goes back to the days there was no power to the windows the instant the engine was turned off. Now most manufacturers do it Toyota's way but they cannot allow unlimited use of the windows when stationary without the driver's control . Otherwise could be safety issue with kids playing, security issues, battery issues, etc etc.

          It is right!!
My Pajero and Aurion are doing same. and I believe it is kind of safety feature that you can use until someone open any door since engine off.
