Has anyone else found the horn a little wanting?

I had the need to use it today and was a little underwhelmed by what happened when I pressed the button.

I think it may need a replacement...

if ya horn aint working they have a little blue tablet available, it makes it work nonstop for a few hours, but it does get a bit noisey after a while :lol: :lol: cheers samo

what did ya expect with an opening post like that lol, it was a top 1 never the less, back to the topic anyway, depends on what ya after in a horn, im happy with mine, but you can always go a set of airhorns or stebel do a decent horn, there is a section on it here, just do a search and you will find it. cheers samo

Yes well I did try to make a serious post but could not help myself with this one. My wife and I were on the with laughter a minute ago over this... must stay off the red wine before I post next time.

I have seen the Stebels, I will look at grabbing one soon.

I've got the Stebel Nautilus Compact air horn and it's great! It's very easy to install and can simply replace one of the existing tinny ones. It's very loud and dual pitch so it really gets people's attention. Also, there's a pre-wired install kit available that is the perfect length for the 150. Makes it a 15 minute job.

Where can you obtain a loud horn in Sydney? Some years ago, air horns were banned as being too loud, however, I see they can still be purchased in auto shops. Do you remove the existing noise makers or just wire it in?

Hi all,

I bought both the horn and the plug-n-play wiring kit from http://www.onlineautoparts.com.au. They were by far the cheapest price I found and very prompt service. You can use the offer code "pradopoint" for a further discount.

As for the installation, I just removed the passenger-side OEM horn and screwed the Stebel straight on. There's heaps of room in front of the radiators. Then it was a simple task of running the plug-n-play wiring back to the battery, screwing the included relay onto an existing hole on the side of the engine bay and splicing the other wire onto the wire left dangling from where the OEM horn was (with the included splicer). All up - 15 minutes.

The benefit of replacing only one of the OEM horns is that if you just tap the horn (e.g. to say goodbye), the air horns don't have time to build up air and so you just get a discreet beep. If you lean on the horn for more than 1/2 a second, however, you see budgies falling out of the sky.

By the way, if you're not used to the little round clips that hold the big plastic shroud that's above the radiators, you just push the middle to release them. Then, once they're out, lift the longer of the four little tabs that surround the central barrel of the clip, and push the barrel back up so the middle disc is elevated above the rest of the clip. Now they're ready to re-install by putting them in the holes again and pushing the disc down so it's flush (don't push too hard or it'll go too far and you'll have to start again). Once you see it, you'll know what I mean.
