  • 2013 pre facelift stereo

    Hi all,

Am just wondering if anyone has upgraded the stereo in the bottom slot on the pre facelift 150 series. I have seen the posts on upgrading the top slot to make them like the posat facelift 150, but I sort of want to keep all my information on the top screen ie dist to empty, fuel consumption etc.

    cheers for your thoughts,

I've added another head unit to my Pre-facelift 150.
now I run an android based upper head unit and a Pioneer lower.

No point keeping the multi screen as the instrument cluster has DTE, average, etc on it as well.

We fitted a Kenwood DDX717WBT (Toyota dedicated unit) in the top slot and with a new fascia the factory screen sits below it. A few hiccoughs but it is fine. I didn't want carplay or mirroring etc and the most basic unit but with biggest screen for two cameras. Replaced the factory camera as it was dying and I ran the second input to a Deusch plug for the camera on the Tvan.

What headunit did you use in the upper section Kyptox- Would you have a link handy? Your setup is similar to what I want to do. mjrandom, I think i have a similar head unit to yours, do you have a small gap in the fascia unit at the bottom? I noticed after I had it all bolted together that there's probably a 2-3mm gap between the bottom of the headunit and the fascia- Not particularly thrilled with the quality of the aeropro fascia kit either- Far inferior to the Toyota factory one.

From the photos, it looks like a standard stereo that fits a Toyota opening with rounded corners.

Yeah, I'm just interested in which one, he's saying it's an android based model and there's so many of them out there that I'd like to get one that's tried and tested. My setup will be a bit strange in that I'll only have the top one running HEMA and possibly some car linking stuff as well through the OBD port (torque pro etc.) The bottom unit where the trip computer is will be getting replaced with my top headunit and will run the car audio system, reverse camera and Android Auto.

Hmmmm, there is a gap of around 5mm under the unit. Never noticed it before and to be honest doesn't bother me. The fascia angles up anyway when the car is running.

                Here 'tis

Shot taken from the backseat square on to the HVAC controls so you never look at that angle anyway unless you are in the middle seat and only 0.04m tall. And slouching.

Yeah, I think mines the same, I've got a similar headunit to yours I think (possibly the same). I might just be a bit OCD about the gap- I just wasn't impressed with the quality of the facia after I pulled it out of it's box and it was already missing 2-3 retaining clips that had snapped off in transit. I'm planning to do to my headunit what Kryptox has done to his- That being to mung up that bottom trip computer fasica panel to accept the headunit from the top, and then replace the top headunit with an android/ windows CE unit that can run my hema and torque pro apps.

I didn't fit it so no idea on what the fascia was like. I was intending putting the storage hole beneath but my wife wanted the trip thingy. Odd because it is pretty useless though dte is good. When it says 0km we kniw we only have 15L left in the tank!
