  • Bought my new Prado today

Well I finally but the bullet and ordered a new GXL V6 auto today and couldn't be happier. Got the towbar, cargo barrier, floor mats, rear cargo mat, and Redarc brake controller in the deal too.

Totally different than my noisy diesel manual Pajero. Sooooo much smoother.

Now I just have to get onto Derek from Sidewinder and get a while heap of 12V gear for it.

I'll also change the tyres straight away for some BFG AT's.

Pick it up in 4 weeks.

Thanks for all of the pre purchase advice.

    Cheers, Sam.

Great work Sam. I pick mine up this week. I know what you mean about noise - I'm coming from a td5 disco - or as the guys at work refer to it the 'massey ferguson tractor' - prado seems like a different world. Congrats on the purchase.

            sam,

i'm not sure which dual battery at this stage - still researching it. i do like derek's abr sidewinder setup. i also noticed arb say they can't fit a battery in the petrol models (probably means they haven't worked out how to do it yet). i will keep hunting around to see what al the options are. let us know if you come up with anything.

Yeah I noticed ARB don't do the petrol version.

I like the Derek's one to but am also looking at the Redarc and Projecta systems.

                    Bought my new Prado today

Picked up the new Prado yesterday. Drove straight to the tyre place and had 275/65/R17 BFG AT's fitted. Then off to ARB to pick up my roof racks.

Absolutely stoked with the car. So different to my Pajero.

Only disappointment is the fitting of the cargo barrier. Looks like they cut one of the holes in the panel in the wrong spot so now the hole for one of the bracket bolts is huge. I'll be on to the dealer tomorrow to make sure they have a replacement panel ready for the first service.

Photos tomorrow when I get to work.

                    Cheers, Sam.

Also a couple photos of the dodgy fitting of the cargo barrier. How this passed the pre delivery inspection, who knows. The sales guy has been great mind you. He wasn't in on Saturday when I picked up the car so hadn't seen it. He has arranged for the interior trim to be replaced and the bracket fitted correctly at the first service.

It should be like the one on the left!

What is the worst part is I bet they did not even tell you they screwed up...It would be one thing to tell you they made a mistake and will take care of it and the other is to let you drive off and or find it before you take it off the lot.
