  • Programmable Options?

    Hi all, after ordering my new GXL V6 today I thought I'd try and find out what the programmable options through the Toyota computer are.

    Might be good to start a list of these for other owners/prospective buyers.

    So the one I read today and wouldn't mind is the 'windows up and down through the key remote' option.

    What else can be programmed by the Toyota computer?

    Cheers, Sam.

      I have had the windows programmed on mine, great feature. I also asked if the folding wing mirrors could be programmed i.e. a triple lock/unlock to fold/unfold but was told by the dealer they cannot

        I had a look at the reversing sensors louder as they only go off when they have to go off unlike like my last car when they went off all the time and were anoying. So next service these will get turned up and yes the window one is great.

            Re: Programmable Options?

            Press and hold the unlock button on the remote for an extended period will lower all windows. There is a table at the back of the owners manual that has all option that you can customise and those that the dealer can customise. Be prepared for a fight if you want the seatbelt warning buzzer turned off. I was told it has to do with the 5* ANCAP safety rating and can't be done. I'll have another go at the 1000km service.

            If I get a chance i'll scan the pages from the manual for you and post the attachment that way you can go in fully armed with all info.

                Had mine done yesterday, was told initially that it could not be done. I put on my gruff voice and posed the argument that;
                • It was stated as an option in the Owners Manual which states that it can be changed by the dealer,
                  As an adult, I am aware of the benefits of wearing a safety belt and choose to do so,
                  I am aware that there are fines in place for driving without the seat belt,
                  I spend considerable time (at least it seems that way with a rampant seat belt buzzer going feral) moving a boat around a caravan park and parking a trailer after launching a boat,
                  I often carry heavy items (my briefcase) in the passenger seat
                  It was me that actually purchased the vehicle and that there was documented evidence of purchase
                  I was authorising the buzzer to be disabled and therefore any litigation would be my problem

                25 seconds later the Service Manager stepped in and asked what the problem was, I showed him the manual (yes I read the whole thing), restated my arguments in a very firm tone, and he agreed that it could and would be done at my request.

                All in all I probably should not have been so hard on the Service Dude, but in the end, the job is done, and I can happily proceed at 30 Km for the 200M to park the boat trailer in relative peace (and without the distraction, potentially avoiding an accident).

                The service guys were actually very good, and even took time when I picked it up to offer to do some more mods (I was time pressed when I dropped it off), the mechanic was excited about the opportunity to play with it, and had read up on the options and had a really good grasp of what can be done. I am dropping it back in next week to have the remote window mod, auto turn off the lights with no delay, increase the delay to auto on the headlights to avoid them flashing other drivers going through underpasses etc, and unlink the recirc from the auto button.

                Cheers

                T

                  Picking up a new GXL next week. Dealer says it would be against the law to disable the Seat Belt Buzzer & is not aware of Windows on Remote & other programmable options.
                  Can someone publish the page number of the table in the manual that deals with reprogramming options please.

                    Ill try remember to scan it over the weekend unless someone else beats me to it. That said it clearly says in the manual the buzzer can be turned off. Make sure when arguing with the dealer (I threatened them warranty replacement for ab-normal wear-tear on the seats from having to put the seat belt behind the seat if they didnt disable it) you remind them its ONLY the buzzer that is being disabled and Toyota Corp endorses it but publishing it in the manual (a lot of dealers have not read the manual, inc mine when I was arguing with them), the warning light on the dash and center display (passenger seat) will still flash as per normal to alert you to the fact your not wearing a seat belt.

                      Re: Programmable Options?

                      For those who request dealer programed options & are not receiving a positive response to their requests.
                      Direct your dealer to the table of available owner/dealer programmable options which commences on page 606 of the Owners Manual.

                      If requesting the seat belt buzzer to be disabled please note;
                      As I now understand them, & my salesman agrees (we're yet to get the service departments interpretation)
                      The seat belt buzzer has two stages (see page 614);
                      1. Ingition On and any seat loaded with sufficient weight & seat belt not buckled = buzzer triggers for up to 30 seconds
                      THIS STAGE COMPLIES WITH LEGAL REQUIREMENTS AND CANNOT LAWFULLY BE DISABLED. :!:
                      2. As per stage one, plus; if after 30 seconds if vehicle speed exceeds 20kph = a second tone is sounded from the buzzer for a further 90 seconds.
                      The stage two (secondary reminder) buzzer is the dealer programmable option & you should be able to have this disabled without breaching current legislation.
                      NB: Above is based on NSW legislation, other states assumed to be the same. :?:

                      Currently expect to be able to collect my GXL next Tuesday (10 days ahead of schedule).
                      Will post dealer details & performance under another topic once handover is complete.

                        Unfortunately Service Department decided they weren't able to legally disable either stage of the warning buzzer, & claim that Toyota Tech Dept agree.
                        Thankfully in the case of my vehicle, the tone & volume of the buzzer are more of a gentle reminder, rather than a loud and demanding alarm.
                        Guess I can live with it for now but will try again at 1000k service.

                          I got my seat belt buzzer turned off but the service dep did not want to do it I had to go see my salesman to get it done had to put up a good argument for it.
                          It gave me the shits when I was doing some light 4bying and had to wear the seat belt but all good now its off.
