Hi guys,
I recently bought a 2014 GXL which has a Toyota Bullbar and Hella spotlights installed (quite well actually). But I need to add some front recovery points. Looking underneath, it looks like the Toyota bar comes with a set of bash plates, as the chassis mount for the bar and where the recovert points bolt on is really concealed.
I’ve read they are an easy install, but with my particular vehicle they look really hard/fiddly. I showed my brother (a mechanic), he didn’t want to do it either!
So my question is- should I pay someone to install, or should I just look for a second hand ARB bar with points installed. I’ve heard the Toyota bars are pretty useless, but I’d like to get my money’s worth if you know what I mean. Also- ARB bars get an absolute flogging on www.productreview.com.au- not as good as they once were? I’ve just paid in excess of $40k on a car, not really feeling like spending $3k on a new ARB bar.
What would you do? We’ll mostly be driving Coast tracks, sand etc.
Cheers!
