  • Moving the hazard switch to the LHS do I need new switch as well as the new panel

Hi, I have decided to buy an 8" Digoptions GPS unit. This put the controls in the RHS facial panel where the hazard switch currently sits. I understand that I need a new LHS side panel with a hole for the hazard switch, part number 55422-60120. What I can not work out is will my existing RHS switch fit in the LHS panel or do I need to buy a LHS hazard switch as well as the LHS panel.

It would be great to hear about any experiences in this area and any suggestions on where to buy the LHS parts and expected prices.
    Thanks
    Greg & Kris

Use existing switch and wires may need to be lengthened.

      amts thanks for that reference.

For anyone else who is interested I also just found this on pradopoint

"When I contacted VMS and asked about the hazard switch they said I would have to mount it upside-down on the other side or import a hazard switch from a LHD vehicle"

Needing to mount the switch upside down makes sense, it appears to have a slight curve across the switch face, which would flow the right way if mounted upside down on the LHS.

I will phone Toyota on Monday and see how much they want for the facia panel. If it is to dear I will import one.

I phoned CMI Toyota Adelaide, they said that the part number 55422-60120 does not show up on the Australian data base. They said that means no one has order one yet (seems a strange). The number did show up on the Japan data base so it is a valid part number and the description matched. The person who took my call has asked that the part be added to the Australia data base so that it can be ordered. He will also find me a price :-)

Check out this thread WDTP. This unit came with the Hazard button and fitted without any modifications. The unit is still going strong, just updated IGO maps to 2018 Q1 over the weekend. Waiting on an update to Android 8 on another forum before I attempt another upgrade.

I would just be buying thru Amayama or Partsouq.. Cheaper, easier and no need to deal with local Toyota guys.

Thanks paddyb, we decided to stay with a more conventional looking unit. But your screen is quite a bit bigger. Looks good

Thanks Piggy, I will check them out. Rather disappointingly Toyota have yet to call me back

Well I phone Toyota, don't know why they didn't call me back. The dash part is now listed on the Australian Toyota data base for $140. I have ordered one, should be here in a few weeks.

Amayama $61 bucks for same thing. Genuine Toyota. Or $54 thru Partsouq.
