GX Specs - Wheel Track and VX KDSS

Hi Guys,

I was just checking the detailed Prado 150 specs and noticeed the GX has a slightly wider wheel track than the other models.


Track front/rear (mm): 1605 (GX);
1585 (GXL, VX & Kakadu)

Does anyone have any clues why that is ?


Also on the VX, does the KDSS intrude on rear cabin space ?

This might explain it:

The GX comes with skinny wheels. To maintain the same position of the outside of the wheel as the upper spec models, the rim would have a lesser offset. Since the track is measured from the centre of the rim width, it alters the spec to show that it has a wider track than the upper spec models.

The GX comes with 245mm wide tyres while the others comes with 265mm wide tyres. Now push the GX tyres until it lines up with the outside surface of the wider tyres. Then measure centre to centre. The difference between centre distances is 20mm. And this corresponds to the difference in the spec.

Anyone with a VX with comments regards to KDSS intrusion into cabin space ?

I cant see anything in my VX - not sure where possible intrusions may be.

The KDSS is underneath the vehicle, its mounted on the passenger side middle section of the chassis rail. I was checking it out the other day trying to work out what guards I want to protect the vitals under there.
