Hi,
I’ve tried searching, but can’t find anything relevant.
My fairly new to me (GX) Prado has an irritating issue with the backrest of the second-row driver’s side seat i.e. what would be the middle row in a seven-seater. The backrest wobbles forwards-backwards, by maybe 5-10 mm, which doesn’t sound like much, but is pretty irritating and feels like a twenty year old taxi – in contrast to the rest of the car, which is solid as.
To me, it seems to be due to some slight movement in the loop-catch on the car-side of the seat (sorry not sure how else to describe it), which is amplified by the size of the seat back.
Since I have a cargo barrier, the seat can only be used in the most upright position. If I move the loop to the most reclined position (with the seat folded forward), the loop seems to lock in more solidly.
My mechanic reckoned the cargo barrier was stopping the seat locking in properly. There’s not much clearance, so that seemed plausible – but when I removed the barrier to test, it didn’t improve, so I reckon it probably is the loose catch.
Just wondering if anyone had a similar issue, or a fix…Is it, perhaps a Prado thing?
Thanks in advance.
