When did the towing capacity increase to 3000 kg

Evening guys,

Thanks in advance for your time. I currently have an 2012 150, everything done, all the usual mods including electrical work, bar work, suspension, rubber etc... all done. My caravan as I now know after having it all weighed, has come in over the 2500 kg rated max towing of my current car. So I need a new car unfortunately or maybe fortunately depending on how you look at it...

I have the option of moving upwards into a Jan 17 150 with low kms and the 2.8L 1GD for really good money through a friend but want to know when the 3000 kg increase came in. The GVM is the same on both cars (2990kg) but the GCM was upgraded. Was this just on the new shape MY18 models or was the previous front end shape upgraded at some stage?

The data plates on inside of passenger door only show the GVM, so not much help. Any ideas where the GCM is stamped or mentioned in a manual?

mine is dec 2017 was rated at 3t but now with gvm upgrade i can only tow 2.5t

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Somehow, I had in my mind that there were some early 2017 models that the increase, but after a lot of research and chatting, alas, its only the MY18 new look model that has the upgrade.

I've got a redic good deal on an early 2017 Kakadu, so Im going with that and reducing weight in my van. I was super close in moving to an Everest but all the research and reading just made me nervous and I just couldn't do it. 200 series was the best option but they are a big unit and not the ideal city car for the mrs and they are seriously expensive.

So Prado is where I stay. Now to bolt on all my bits when I get it.
