  • OBD2 question: Carista and OBDFusion

(To start with, my car has 1GD-FTV (2.8) engine and 6 speed auto transmission.)

Hi, I have bite the bullet and bought a "Carista" dongle and downloaded OBDFusion on my iPhone.

Last night I have went through a bunch of youtube videos on how to setup OBDFusion, as well as done lots of research on Pradopoint and Hulix/Forturner related forums.

But I personally run into couple of problems:

    1) I cannot find "Prado" as a pre-selected car.

    2) I cannot get the transmission temperature

    3) Then I tried the "PID 2182" and couple of formula but still no avail

    4) I am also wonder for those who have success, what do you have on your dash that make you feel they are important.

Really looking forward to your input.

I have never used an Apple device as they always seem so restrictive in what you are "allowed" to do. I searched for your Carista dongle as I had not heard of it and found that it will work with torque pro. So I suggest borrow or buy a cheap android device install torque pro and follow the many threads on here about setting it up. At least you will be sure that it reads most of what you need including pids not published by Toyota. (That is most of them)
If you want to look deeper you could always try Techstream, there are connecting leads and software available although most is not very stable. There used to be a forum with downloadable software but Toyota forced them to take down the entire Toyota section.
