Had a call from a nephew last night, ran out of fuel at 1/4 tank. Workshop has diagnosed inoperative fuel pump and has ordered same.
This from a pretty modern car, 2.8 diesel with 130,000k on the clock. Bought new, always serviced etc etc.
I gave him the low down on how the system works should this happen when out in the bush. Car will keep going so long as you keep the main tank full, forget you have a sub.
But very disappointing for such a low k car to show this problem.
Got me wondering just how many are the same but if the owner maintains high fuel levels, he'd never know the 12v pump wasn't working.
