Hi, can anyone help. On hot days my 2013 Kakadu diesel gauge for the outdoor temp reflects far less than the actual temp. For example on a 28 degree day it will show as 15 degrees. In cold weather it is no problem and works fine. Apart from the annoyance with the incorrect reading does this affect the engine performance in any way. Is it used for engine settings at all? Thanks folks

Since the outdoor temperature (= engine air intake temperature) reading is not actually provided for the display, if it is misreading the intake temperature then this will affect the levels of nasties in the exhaust gas. This may or may not impact on the engine's output power, although it probably will.
Your vehicle could have a fault where the actual temperature is being read wrong. Alternatively, the fault could be in the display unit and so does not affect the engine. I don't know how you would diagnose the problem but I'm thinking that it will involve a trip to year dealer's service department.
