  • Steering whine

I bought a 2015 3.0 TD TX model from a Toyota dealer. The steering is making a whining noise when stationary and at low speed, when parking in a parkinglot for example. They have replaced the pump, hoses and reservoir and now they say its normal for these vehicles? Can anyone confirm if a whining noise is normal?

Im not familiar with the 3.0 , but just out of interest , does the noise go away when the pwr steer belt is disconnected ? that noise is usually associated with low fluid level or a buggered pump

That's easy, just get them to demonstrate the same noise on one they have in stock ;-) No this noise is not normal.

I had whine in my power steering upon purchasing my 2010 150. Toyota replaced pump. Sound reduced as a result. Used to hear it at low speed but now only notice it when stationary. Then again, I am not listening for it like I was when I had the issue. I believe some low grade whine is normal.
