  • Suspension upgrades

I just bought a prado 150 3door 2011. It was the dream of life time! My requirements are 80%on and 20% off road! I plan to ise it as a dily car, long trips, city driving and excursions off road that you have to travel through a lot of twisted( turns) roads. I dont like the insecurity while driving on road ( light wheel with minimal sence of the road), very woobly suspension( feels like a boat) makes me feel that is goong to slip out of the road. Very bouncy ride, passengers specially on the back but in the front also!! Get sick and nauseous!
what i can do to improve all these? I have to not that the suspension has not been changed fro 150000km!
    thanks mates

Yep, Prado's standard suspension is certainly woobly :-). I guess some people like that, but sounds like you would get a lot of value from new suspension: less woobly, carrying heavier loads, better approach/departure/ramp-over angles etc.

I've got Old Man Emu (ARB brand) with Nitrocharger dampeners on mine - highly recommended. It's about $2000 for new springs, dampeners, and installation.

Dobinsons is another popular suspension brand.

      Thankats,

How long have you had your three door shorty? It reads like that you may have only had it for a short time.
Shorter wheel base 4WDs tend to be more bouncy on the road and off road than a longer wheel base vehicle. As well as my Prado, I own a Suzuki Jimny which is very short so I have empathy for you. Speed bumps are bad in that car.
Though with the age of your vehicle a look at and possible upgrade of the suspension would probably help your ride comfort.

      2022 Jimny too
