  • Advice on fuel light flashing

HI I'm just chasing advice or a wiring diagram for the fuel system I have a 2012 150 series diesel Prado my low fuel light is flashing on half a tank and hard to fill.
I know that it means my front tank is empty and my rear tank is full due to fuel not transferring.
I have replaced the under vehicle fuel filter and the main tank module (which includes the sender unit, transfer pump and vantury) the fuse is good and I swapped the relay out with another one with still no luck I have even disconnected all hoses between tanks and blown them out and checked plug on top on module and was all good also.
Any advice and knowledge would be appreciated as I'm a bit lost with it now.

    Thank you

I had the same issue with my 2010 Prado. The mechanic found that at some stage the fuel line between the two tanks had come off. If I remember rightly it was the fuel line on the top of the rear tank. Because it sits on top the tank you can't see it. I think he had to drop the rear tank down a bit to get in there to refit it.

        Hi Beaubo,

im just wondering if you got the problem fixed?
I’ve got a 2017 Prado and I’ve had the exact same issues and I have done everything you have listed here and I’m now breaking down at 1/2 tank rather then 1/4 tank
fuel light no longer flashes after replacing the sender unit in main tank.

Hi, I had a similar issue with mine and it stopped in the middle of the Gibson desert!!!!

Turns out that there is a small filter on the fuel transfer pump in the rear tank. The pump at least is supposed to get changed at 150 00km.

We had some dirty fuel which explains ours at 96 000.

You can buy the whole unit for around $700 or just the small pump itself for around $200. I'm just guessing at the price as it was a while ago. I'd advise you checking with your spare parts person at a local dealership.

Or google toyota prado 150 fuel transfer pump.

The whole rear tank needs to come out to do the job. Good luck!!

Maybe because the path of the two jars has a problem, cracked for example? Tetris
