  • Locked out of the rear door

On a recent trip I had to completely unpack the vehicle & remove the cargo barrier from the second row seats, so very tricky & time consuming, to access the rear because a box had shifted and prevented the rear door from unlocking. So to avoid this happening again I popped out the locking tab as shown in the photo. If you have a cargo barrier I would definitely do it to avoid the time & heartache I faced, even if you don't have a cargo barrier I would still do it. If you are concerned about the third row seat passengers being unable to unlock the rear door in an emergency, don't. It's still very easy to actuate the mechanism manually.

Good idea. How does it pop out? Would a piece of heavy tape over the tab do the same? I must try it.

Just use a flat tip screwdriver or a trim removal tool. You have to remove it to defeat it.
