  • Dust

    Hi All
My 2019 150 leaks quite a bit of dust into the cabin when on the gravel. I have tried a few different settings on the aircon without much change. never had a problem with my previous 2010 model.
    any advice appreciated.
    Allan.

Check the grommets under the body. Maybe one got dislodged.

Mine sucks dust like a vacuum. So did my 120. Closely checked everything and especially the grommets. I always suspect the flaps for the flow through ventilation.

I bought my 2017 GX second hand. While the dealer had cleaned most of the dust up it was evident that dust had been getting in.

When I took the 3rd row seat out to save weight and provide more storage space, I found that a couple of grommets had been removed during installation of a trailer brake controller by the previous owner (or his installer). I put a couple of pieces of gaffer tape over the holes. Problem solved.

I have a 2010 that has done a lot of really dusty work and never a problem. I would definitely be looking for missing grommets etc as suggested

I have seen some information that for most occasions, leave the ventilation on Fresh. That way the flaps at the rear outlets will always have a stronger positive pressure from inside the vehicle. That rear area will have much dust on the outside around in dusty conditions. Often the aircon in my vehicle starts automatically on Recirculate rather than Fresh. I have to remember to switch it over.

Like Watsea I leave the ventilation on fresh in most conditions, only changing to recirc temporarily if passing a road train or vehicle on dusty roads. This seems to minimise dust ingress but there is still some. The poor design of the top of the rear door also lets dust fall into the rear luggage area when opened after driving on dusty outback roads. Mostly I remember to blow the top of door clear with the battery blower before opening the door, but sometimes I forget.

When I took delivery of my new prado it let in a large amount of dust around the jack area. I found the the ventilation flap there had been broken and would not stay in the body cutout. I taped it in during an outback trip. It was most likely damaged during the tow wiring installation. New flap under warranty solved most of thatproblem.

              Cheers
