Missus put approx 23 litres of petrol in 2021 VX prado. But hasn't started it. Help!!!

Hi All,

My Missus just put about 25 litres of petrol into a 2021 VX prado. Tank was almost empty at the time and she only put $50 worth of fuel which at todays prices means there's about 23 litres of petrol. There was about 7 litres of diesel in the tank at the time. Thankfully she never ran the car.

Can I please get some suggestions.

We called from a mob that specialises in this and they want $500 to drain the tanks and purge the system.

$500 is heaps cheaper than new fuel pump & injectors

You'll certainly need to drain & purge the fuel system before doing anything else. I don't know what the cost should be but call your state motoring association (NRMA, RAC etc) & ask them for advice on the best place to take it. Even $500 is a lot cheaper than the cost of a new motor!

A dozen years ago I put 70L of petrol into my 88L Pajero tank. As there was no one to help me, i started the engine, drove, the vehicle 5metres away from the bowser and parked. I called NRMA, put it on a truck to my local dealer who cleaned the tank, new filters for a darn lot less than $500. No problems with the vehicle.
I had a good relationship with my dealer, I had the vehicle back in 3 hours. Try your dealer

mate, you can afford a $75k+ vehicle, pay the $500 bucks and get it fixed and move on.
What do you expect, someone to do it for free ?

ps: last poster said it took the dealer 3hrs to fix his vehicle, 12 years ago, most mechanics are $125+ hr for their labour, + filters, etc. so in todays dollars $500 looks cheap.

Youl be fine, 2.5 months ago a mate did almost the same amount and no engine light, running or driving issues since. Just kept it topped up with diesel every day or so to dilute it.
