  • Help To Secure Waeco

    Hi All,
We travel alot with our caravan, and the Waeco always bounces around whilst travelling. Can anyone give me some advise as to how to secure it,as there are only 2 fastening points in the rear. Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers

    Re: Help To Secure Waeco

I'll be putting a false floor (carpeted ply) in over the top of the 3rd row seats and bolting it to the tie down points. I will then secure my Waeco fridge slide to this.

      Re: Help To Secure Waeco

I bought my 40ltr FF waeco when they first came on the scene a bit over 10 years ago and included the extra insulation cover bag in the purchase.

I then used wide, about 50mm, velcro that has adhesive on the back and stuck in on the fridge and the other side on the inside of the bag. I made the strips about 20cm long and ran them around the corner of the fridge at about the 3/4 height where the metal loops and tie down straps for the bag are. Then I stuck the fridge into the bag and velcroed it together.
I then just tied the fridge down on the black widows fridge slide in the Jackaroo, it sat there for ten years and never ever moved. Have only used it once in the Prado and tied it down on the tie downs.

there is a fixing kit available, if you got something to screw it to.

My waeco is in a bag, which has four loops in each top corner, i just run a waeco strap through the two loops and back to the floor anchor at the back of the rear cargo area and a second strap through the front loops and through the tie down point closer to the front and or the baby seat point.

I have just done 10500KMS to Cape York in my GX 150 Diesel.
            I bought a Weaco CF50 prior
I mounted it on the floor on Drive side.(no slide)
Get 2 Tie downs, secure each to the handle at each end and tie very tightly to each tie down point on floor.
            WE had NO movement.
The Fridge will sit slightly crooked on floor but thats ok so you can store items between fridge and side of car.
It meant the opening door of fridge was hinged on drive side making it a cinch to access your food.
            We set ours on -2
            Hope this helps

                  Re: Help To Secure Waeco

                  Yep fair question.
We did the easy way, nothing much but some scenery and some low creek crossings.
Roads generally excellent, can travel at 100++ on most.
Even the bad roads were ok too.
Roads from Lynd Junction to Hughendin and then to Muttaburra then to Hungerford, all dirt were often worse than Cape roads.
                  Still many were capable 100++
