  • Rear wheel and camera mount 2013 150

    Hi all,

I've recently brought a set of Ruff Road wheels. They fit the stud pattern of the 150, look great on, with no poke, but the centre bore is too small for the rear door wheel mount and camera holder. The rear door mount diameter is approx. 82.2 mm whilst the wheel centre bore is approx. 71mm.

Has anyone encountered this issue previously with after market wheels?
Is anyone aware if there are various sizes of diameter of the read door mount? I'm told by the wheel supplier the wheels i purchased have fit 150 Prodo's previously, though to be honest i'm a little sceptical of what i'm being told.

The obvious simple solution is to bore the centre of the spare out, this creates a secondary problem though when a puncture occurs...what to do with the punctured tire and wheel.

Be great to know if anyone else has had this issue and if so how they attacked it.

    Cheers

That is a small wheel bore, I think standard bore is 106mm, do the wheels sit properly on the car?

Yea they seem to fit and sit ok on the car, The guys who fit the tyres and wheels to the car didn't flag any concerns.

Checked my wheels and the bore definitely sits on the axle spigot as per standard design, your wheels must have a stepped centre bore in order to fit correctly.
Personally I would be going back to the supplier to correct the bores as to my mind they are not a proper fit.

Undersize wheel centres are a concern for safety in my opinion. Prado wheels (at least my MY2016 GX) are hub-centric - the weight of the car is supported by the hub rather than the wheel studs. Something is amiss with your hubs or wheel fitting.
