Hi everyone,

Has anyone had success screen mirroring their iPhone to the head unit in a 2023 VX?

I'm not talking CarPlay, but screen mirroring so I can view my Exploroz maps straight onto the display in the car. Same for any apps installed on the Apple phone. Weather radar, HEMA, Kayo, Netflix.

Unfortunately, not all Apps are CarPlay compatible.

I understand that the Prado has Miracast, but that's not iPhone compatible as far as I can work it. It seems easier for Androids, but I don't have one. My iPhone gets paid for by my job, so I'm not junking it yet.

Anybody used a dongle/ box straight into the USB port that works for Apple?

I use an android phone and have not bought one of the AI boxes so can't comment. Before I became aware of them I purchased an adaptor that enables me to connect to Android Auto in my MY21 Kakadu wirelessly, which is great thing, but doesn't solve your problem. For that I have a 10" android tablet that I display just above the Prado head unit using a large RAM bracket and a SeaSucker windscreen mount. If I had been aware of he AI boxes then I may have bought one, but I suspect that the resolution of my tablet far exceeds what the head unit is capable of.

Hi all
I ended up buying a AI box from Smartworld. Works perfectly via the CarPlay usb input.
It’s an android system and you can download any app you want from google play store.
It’s a pity this feature isn’t supplied on the factory head units. A supposed safety feature no doubt.
