2018 Prado GXL. Intermittent error code P0047

The Prado now has just over 90k. In December I was towing a boat (a light one) and the Prado went into limp mode. Hooked up an OBD scanner and found code P0047 Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Control Circuit Low. After letting it sit for a while the error cleared. Drove around until now with no issues.
Fast forward to yesterday. Towing a trailer (< 1Ton) and it went into Limp mode with same error code. Sit for a while and it clears itself.

Question: has anyone else had a similar issue and what was the resolution?

(P.S I did google and there was not much about it apart from someone complaining that Toyota dealer wanted to replace the entire turbo unit for >$4k)

That code indicates that your Turbo variable vane actuator motor is not drawing enough current when commanded to move to above 80% (DC motor duty ratio is the ECM commanded % actuation).

• The DC motor duty ratio is 80% or more and the motor current is 0.5 A or less for 3 seconds or more (1 trip detection logic).

Suggested potential causes are:

• Open in DC motor (turbocharger nozzle vane control actuator) circuit
• Turbocharger nozzle vane control actuator
• Turbocharger nozzle vane is stuck or movement is irregular

So worth checking your connector (2 Pin) to the actuator motor on the side of the Turbo is clean and fully seated and that there has not been any chaffing (or critter chewing) of the wiring to it that could be making and breaking the connection . Its one trip detection logic so will log fault on first occurrence and not reset, so if intermittent connection would allow you to clear once wire/connector mates enough.
