2010 Kakadu automatic steering column extension / retraction failure

Hi all,
Recently the automatic steering column extension / retraction as you start and stop the car has failed.
There is a noise which I presume is a drive motor which runs for some time but isn't engaging and actually moving the column in or out. It stops after maybe 30 seconds - I assume times out.
I can adjust the column up/down manually, but not in/out.
Has anyone experienced this problem - and if so, what can you share in terms of getting it fixed.
Any feedback or advice most welcome

Sounds like the worm drive for telescope has stripped.
Could be the fixed nut section in red but this is not available as a standalone part from what I can find in the Parts Catalogues.
Part Number for complete assembly in picture is 45810-60041 GEAR ASSY, TILT STEERING, W/MOTOR

Thanks ptommo59 - much appreciated. Unfortunately it sounds expensive.... not surprisingly. I'll make some enquiries with Toyota.
