Towing without transmission cooler

I checked mine today - its 357 so still quite low.
Currently at 36371 km and have had a Wholesale Autos Trans Cooler fitted since around 12,000 km.
Did approx 1000 km towing 2.6t van pre cooler and 11000 km with.
Included crossing the Vic Great Divide from Border to Lakes Entrance and back twice via Omeo Highway and Mt Hotham and a trip to Cairns and back via inland route..

If anyone is chasing a spreadsheet version of all the 150KW Scangauge codes I posted on Pradopoint with Torque Pro conversions, I have added in the files section of the Toyota Prado Owners of Australia FB page.

For earlier model 1GD (130kW) with six speed transmission. The formulae for transmission temperatures with the TorquePro system are:

PID: 2182
Long Name: Transmission Fluid Temperature Pan
Short Name: TFT Pan (or whatever you like)
Minimum Value: 0.0
Maximum Value: 130 or whatever
Scale Factor: x1
Unit Type: C (for Celsius temperature)
Equation: (((((A*256)+B)*(7/100)-400)/10)-32)*(5/9)
OBD header: leave blank

Long Name: Transmission Fluid Temperature Torque Converter
Short Name: TCT or TFT Conv or whatever you like
PID: 2182
Then similar to above etc
then
Equation: ((((C*256)+D)* 0.35-3600)/90)
OBD header: leave blank

watsea A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing! For the AC60 gearbox in the 130kW Prado, the ECU already reports the ATF temperatures in whole degrees Celcius (+40)**, so there is no need to convert the result from Celcius to Fahrenheit and back to Celcius again! I suspect the formula evolved when a American user first wrote a formula that displayed the ATF in degrees Fahrenheit for their vehicles. Then, an enterprising user from a metric country saw that there was a way of getting the ATF temperature and copied and "enhanced" the formula so that the Fahrenheit value would be converted back to Celcius! I've seen similar horror formulae for ScanGauge and UltraGauge too.

Only the two bytes A and C are required for the two respective values to be displayed in whole degrees.
For the Pan Temperature use the formula: A-40
...and for the Torque Converter Outlet Temperature: C-40
I use these two simple formulae in my MY2016 Prado - they work! Much simpler to enter the formula and much less processing load on the poor old TorquePro!

**PID2182 reports the ATF temperature as a value 0 to 255 (a single byte), which represents temperatures from -40'C to +215'C in whole degrees. So the formula just has to subtract 40 from the returned value to give the correct temperature. Ie. A returned value of 0 is -40'C and 120 would represent 80'C

Can someone with Torque Pro and a 130KW 1GD run Torque Scan (free add-on) over the ECM (07E0) for all the Mode 01 and 21 PIDs and post as I would like to try to decode what is being reported in each PID and see if we can collate a full parameter list similar to the 150kW. Even handier would also be a matching snapshot of all Engine/Trans parameters using Techstream at around the same time to try to match values to workout formulas..

Back in 2019, I obtained those complicated equations from Pradopoint. I would have preferred something more simple. They seem to work though.
