How to turn off the ECO light?

Side topic... I have a suspicion that the Eco light is so rigged. The way I read what it's for is that it shows the driver when the engine is being run up to a certain fuel consumption level at any given time. OK... fair enough but I noticed when the cruise control is engaged then the light never goes off. I could be driving up from the hill from Ourimbah (long steep freeway hill) at 110 and the transmission drops back and the engine revs harder... the light stays on. Now without the cruise control, there is no way I can get the Prado make that same climb, maintaining 110 while keeping the Eco light on. I am thinking it a secret conspiracy by Toyota to.... um ... I don't really know. Just strange. Anyone else noticed this too?

Some if not all of the chip options work off the accelerator and not with the computer settings so the chip only works with the right foot. The eco light clearly does the same thing. The CC is not the way to save fuel after all.

It certainly seems to operate like you describe. You would have thought that it wouldn't have taken much to make it a little more intelligent... the main computer has access to heaps of relevant real-time operational parameters that could be used to give a more meaningful indication of economical driving. Though I guess this way, the sales guys can say how great the cruise control is at being a fuel saving system.
