  • Prado 150 rear door

I'm about to purchase a new Prado to use for towing a 19 foot caravan. It just occurred to me that it may not be possible to fully open the rear, tailgate, door hen hitched up to the van as it might bang into the caravan A-frame, gas bottles, etc. Is this the case? Would like to hear from hose who have actually got such a set-up. Thanks, rosevile200.

    Hi,
We tow a 19' van and have no trouble opening the rear door. You should be fine.
    Cheers

That will depend on the height of your van and the level your A frame sits at. You should adjust the vehicle hitch to make the van sit level. This makes it impossible to answer your question without knowing your van details.

      Cheers
      Alan.

        Re: Prado 150 rear door

As a rule of thumb, a standard 'On road van' will have no problem with the door clearing the tow hitch. We have an 'Off road van' and as these sit higher in the suspension and the wheels are usually bigger as well, to sit the van level, the hitch would be in the way of the back door if the Prado still had the factory suspension. We have no issues as we have OME suspension with 50mm lift and with this setup have 30mm clearance.
